September 16, 2012 Charlotte, NC – Vance & Hines Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson team rider Andrew Hines scored his fifth win of the season in NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle, with a honest to good drag race in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Nationals finals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hines beat teammate Eddie Krawiec with a time of 6.862 seconds at 194.49 mph on his Vance & Hines Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson.
“We just tried to stay calm,” said Hines, “We just had to keep our focus all day long, and we were on a mission when we came here, to defend our regular season win streak of 10 in a row, and we needed to come out here and see if we could do that. Luckily, everything panned out for us, and it’s just a great feeling to start off the Countdown this way.”
Hines had a bye run in the first round and then beat Shawn Gann and Hector Arana Sr. to advance to his 51st career final round.
The final was another all Vance & Hines Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson final with Andrew having lane choice. Hines left the starting line first, .010 to .018, and turned it into a 6.862 to a 6.858 holeshot win!
“That was about as good a drag race as it gets” Hines said. “We were fortunate enough to have both bikes in the finals so it really didn’t matter how it went after that” Hines went on to say “It wasn’t easy, but we really had our heads down this weekend”
Teammate Eddie Krawiec continues to lead the Countdown to the Championship points by 10 over Hines.
The NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship continues Sept. 20-23 with the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex near Dallas.
The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines Pro Stock Motorcycle team is sponsored by Matco Tools, Dunlop Tires and Traxxas.
