This past weekend, J&P Cycles held its 32nd annual Open House event at its headquarters in Anamosa, Iowa. As a way to show their appreciation to all their customers, J&P opens their doors every summer to welcome motorcyclists from all over the Midwest, providing lunch and two full days of entertainment, including a wide range of aftermarket parts vendors and displays, stunt riders, vintage bike shows and the famous J&P Cycles motorcycle rodeo.
Lots of folks from as far north as Minneapolis and Milwaukee to as far south as St. Louis and Kansas City made the ride out to eastern Iowa despite threats of thunderstorms. Through most of Saturday, the rain did hold off until the late afternoon, but Sunday was truly a chamber of commerce day, with bright sunny skies and summer temperatures.
J&P Cycles invites many of the leading parts and accessories manufacturers in the motorcycle aftermarket to bring their show trucks out to meet with customers. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the products that J&P sells and to purchase new products and have them installed on J&P’s lot.
One of the newest products available from Vance & Hines at the Open House was Throttlepak. Designed for late model Harley-Davidson Touring bikes equipped with electronic or “fly-by-wire” throttles, Throttlepak is a plug-and-play module that boosts throttle response, thereby eliminating the lag commonly associated with fly-by-wire throttles.
And at the Open House, Touring bikes are definitely the most common sight. Along with Throttlepak, Vance & Hines Power Duals crossover head pipes and Hi-Output slip-on mufflers were among the most popular purchases at the event. But the great thing about the Open House is that customers have access to the whole of J&P’s inventory, which meant that riders with early model Sportsters and Dynas were able to get exhaust systems fitted for their motorcycles as well.
Beyond the Harley realm, J&P Cycles also had on display the newest product from Vance & Hines and its first product for the Honda Gold Wing, the GL Monster Slip-ons. Featuring a massive 6-1/4” wide blue-proof hexagonal shaped mufflers with machined billet end caps, the GL Monsters give the Wing a pleasing exhaust note and add a nice gain in performance all the way through the powerband.
Another ‘must see’ for the weekend while at the Open House is to visit the newly reopened National Motorcycle Museum just a couple miles west of J&P Cycles. Representing a lifetime of work collecting and restoring hundreds of some of the most rare and classic motorcycles, the Parhams have built an unrivaled tribute to the history of motorcycling.
Next up, the Vance & Hines Show Truck is heading to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for Hot Harley Nights, July 8-10. The Show Truck will be parked at J&L Harley-Davidson for the event. Come on out to see the latest Vance & Hines products for Harley-Davidsons.
